It will have no effect if you are not involved in any kind of addiction to gambling. Gambling and relationship both are different from each other. Girlfriend is considered as life partner while the gambling refers to the entertainment. I think both are needed here considering two aspects. But it is a big problem for those who are addicted to gambling.
