For sure he is not as stupid as we think he has an agent who can discuss with him there's no way the two of them would take such a ridiculous decision
That means there's another reason we don't know only they and management know better.

Chelsea should be a good club for De Jong. but somehow De Jong's considerations forced him to continue to stay at Barca. although he is no longer in Xavi's strategy. and it could be bad for Barca when their new player can't be registered for La Liga this season. Barca also seems to still have problems with several other players who want to be excluded from the squad.
