Well, seeing only the stats will make you feel that bat first and win is the order of all the matches. Teams like Srilanka and Pakistan did make efforts to chase down big totals and it was not mere batting second theory. Naseem Shah hit 2 sixes to win, otherwise, Pakistan had lost the match and we have similar performances in other matches too by teams playing second.
I think luck can still play a factor anyways, Pakistan for example after defeat in the Group match was lucky to have won against India in Super 4, not to forget the lucky win against Afghanistan which came out of nowhere.
