This is why it can struggle with MSM mass-appeal, appearing a bit geeky, because it is based on sound mathematical & economic principles. The best brains in tech will be working to keep this a decentralized, secure form of currency. And then there is the halving to look forward to, creating fewer miners & more buyers so driving prices up with mining difficulty. If you think about it you can see that BTC has the backing of the upper echelons in business, politics & society. So now is a great time to buy!
You have a valid point and from an economist's point of view, in shot Bitcoin decentralization is the main Cardinals point that holds Bitcoin price up till this very moment, and even after the next halving Bitcoin will only get better ecosystems and increase value in the long term base.
Political actors may want to influence this but am very sure die to decentralization regulating Bitcoin may not be an easy task or even an Impossible task so Bitcoin's long-term value is always sustained by this factor of decentralization.
