if today and last week you have won and made a huge profit, but you decide to stop gambling, it is very unlikely that you will actually stop.
because someone gambles out of habit and pleasure, when they have enough money there will always be a desire to bet and double that money.

In my opinion, someone will be able to stop playing gambling when they experience a very big loss and really have nothing else at stake.

I think there are really gamblers who will do that for real. Anyone of us can change our habit if we want to but some are only waiting for a specific time or go signal. In the case of the op, maybe this is what he was waiting for.
