He is only just lucky, but you can think of rich people in the past that later become broke. I am not saying your friend will become broke, but what he is doing is highly risky. I can never think like that, he can lead to a miserable, uncomfortable and depressing life for most people that think like that. Never depend on gambling, get a good business before having such idea.

I understand your point, but the OP has said that his friend is a professional gambler and not just a rich bloke who doesn't know how to control its money and finds himself gambling without even trying to win or haven't got a good game plan to sustain his financial needs and status.

Professional gambler might not be a good business to start with because yes, gambling is a very unpredictable sport and expensive vice. But we must know that only few people are just called to be living a life like that, it's like they are born to be like that. Professional gambler is a thing now especially if you're focusing on sports where your chances will increase depends on how you will analyze the available data unlike to a casino where it's just mostly luck-based games.
