In my estimation, planning ahead of time with future money or cash-not-in-hand is the most natural thing to do for any human because we are "futuristic". For me, it is two ways, I plan for what I would use the money to do once and I win it. Also, I make plan for how to recover the money once use for gambling in the case where I do not win. It is crazy, I know but it helps to keep me sane.
Are you sure about this?

How many times have you managed to "win back" the money that you lost in gambling? I think that the desire to win back your money is one of the most destructive desires, as it leaves you in the game and only increases losses. Even if someone succeeds, I think that on average this is a harmful behavior pattern.
