It's better to take that out on the registration asking for the mobile number, nobody knows here its optional not to fill in until you tell us that it's ok, how about outside of this forum or those who did not notice your post about the registration ignoring the mobile number, people will opt not to proceed to sign up since they are giving away vital information.
even if I know that it's ok to proceed without filling in the mobile number I prefer not to until it is taken down, platforms that ask for mobile numbers especially those without licenses are ignored.

It do really sucks on the time when you do make out some registration and you do see that it is really asking for some mobile phone and some do even ask out some addresses. LOL!
