It was clearly Australia's session but one Ashwin's over turned this session into a shared one. Lunch would taste much better now.

In this Test, Australia's two Test rankings, Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith, were dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin in the same over. Again Cummins and Tod Murphy were dismissed in the same over. Apart from these two, Usman Khawaja and Alex Carey were dismissed in the space of just overs. As a result, losing so many wickets, Australia ended the first innings with only 263 runs. However, compared to the first Test, the Australians have been able to adapt themselves to the wicket pitch to some extent.
