They would certainly regrade, but considering the subjective element of grading it is possible the grade could decrease or increase by one. Removing it from the slab on your own however almost guarantees damaging it enough to drop one grade.

I have cracked at least 50 slabs and not once damaged a coin in any way.

Same here - snip the corners of the slabs. Easy peasy. Many forum members made good monies when they noticed ANACS began grading previous 66 and 67s as 68-69.
