You're absolutely right, but not all users know how to get that information right without asking a single question ^{[unless they alt].}
Beginners often get common questions like these because they don't know where to start. This merit system is simple because you only receive and send it to other users, but what is difficult is how to earn it because each user never has the same quality of posts. So questions like that are sometimes much more helpful to them than pretending to know.
