I say this because I have seen two ways in which hazard would have avoided his downfall in Real Madrid
The first way was never to go to Real Madrid because he was already a king in Chelsea. Maybe just a chess for Ballon d or confused him.

The second Chance was to leave Real Madrid immediately he was not having playing time. Instead. He said that he will remain and prove himself that he doesn't want to leave Real Madrid a failure.

It is easier said than done as you describe it. It is always relatively easy to say things like that in retrospect and giving up right in the moment when you can't find your way into the first 11 of the team is probably also not right as we have seen examples where players fought their way to the top over a long period of time.
