If opportunity is the only reason then we wouldn't have any poor people plus, the opportunity you talk about doesn't mean that everyone can get one, take those people in war zones, they will grab the first opportunity that they can get out of there but if no one reaches out the proverbial olive branch then there's no opportunity.

it depends on one's mindset. Actually there are many factors that cause a person to remain poor, lack of access to adequate education so that they may have difficulty finding work. An unconducive social environment makes a person unable to create change. Most of them are stuck in this situation and feel comfortable making it difficult to make changes.
However, it is important to remember that each individual and situation is unique, many complex and interacting factors can affect poverty, therefore solutions to overcome it must be adapted to each person's individual situation and needs.
