They have performed very well, but it is not over yet for them. Arsenal is a good example for a team that destroys their own performance by dropping so hard. Yes I think you described it quite well. Arsenal didn't really have a chance against Manchester City and on a perfect day Haaland doesn't score once, but three or four goals given the chances he had against Arsenal. You could say that the 4-1 didn't even reflect how the game went.
