It's not new in Madrid's case. There is no season that real Madrid doesn't give maximum priority to UCL. They have earned a lot of it and it has become what they are know for. One shouldn't expect real Madrid to stress more for a place in the La liga cuz have little or nothing more to fight for. They have already won the third place and I'm sure they won't be dropping further. 3rd place in the standing still has the same honor as second place, if Madrid can remain in there till the end of the season and still win the UCL, it will be a great honor.
