Everyone has a different personality, and perhaps Jokic's calm demeanor is what helps him win games because he doesn't panic easily. While the NBA is his profession, he still has a life outside of it. Just imagine if Jokic aims to further improve his game; he would become even more unstoppable. He has a relaxed and laid-back approach, making it seem easy for him to achieve a championship, while others who are overly hyped and desperate for a championship struggle to attain it. In short, Jokic is highly underrated.
I agree that if he starts taking things a lot more seriously, he will probably be able to perform a lot better. But not given enough importance is I think the mental health of a player. The way he talks I don’t think he is in the nearest mental health situation right now. He has to be frustrated.
Couldn’t it be like he was just trolling? And I actually agree with him that no one actually likes his job. Nobody wants to do the same thing day after day, year after year. No one likes to do his job, people are just consistent and disciplined. Most of the people in the world right now are working 9 to 5 jobs. Of course, they do not like their job. They do what they are doing just because they are disciplined. I think he said it because of frustration. People do get tired of doing the same thing, the same training every day.
So yes, in this situation, I am going to defend him, but I will defend him as long as he stays consistent and disciplined to do the same thing again, which will bring him success.
I don't think that he is trolling though, perhaps that how his personality is, maybe we just don't know, when there are no camera's behind, then we will see him celebrate it in private with just his families and close friends around.
Winning is winning though, that is the ultimate goal for any athlete, be the best and then win some championships along the way and he is still in his prime so I doubt that he is done with that winning mentality. Remember that part of his winning strategy is to lose weight, so that alone shows how his mind is, prepared to do everything for the sake of winning.
The thing is, he is performing well, and he is also very reliable. So, I believe it does not matter what he says as long as he performs, okay?
He just wanted to say something and he said it, the big thing is that he is performing. I just hope that he's not suffering from mental health issues. Because that can be highly dangerous for any athlete in any sport.
