Yes and no, but in essence I agree with you. But Mbappe would not sign any sort of pre-contracts I assume. So there remains a risk for Real Madrid to sign him rather later than earlier that could also result in a missed chance and incurred opportunity cost. Summarizing the whole situation, I come to to the conclusion that something will be done this year. All this talk from Mbappe that he wants to stay at PSG and never had any other plans is the same old story we have been hearing forever now. But due to the hype alone that is related to this transfer, it would make more sense to do it this year. I guess the hype is even worth something to the club who signs him in the end as they get serious advertising value for their money on top.
