With the above point which you have given, it's definitely worth it. But when it comes to scammers using the forum, reverse is also the case, they create self moderated topics , where the only comment they allow to stay their long is anything dropped by them and that of their alt accounts or anything that just have to be positive base on their discussion.

Another thing about self moderated topics since it helps filter scammer, to some point it also prevent the freedom of expression kind of thing here in the forum, where all of us is entitled to our own opinion, if I'm the creator of a self moderated thread, and it happens to be that majority of the people commenting under it are against my opinion I might likely wipe all those comments and leave only those which I see that they are off my favour. Have come across a thread where few of my post was wipe back then when I was still a newbie if I could remember correctly.

So if am to be asked, self-moderated topic is good depending on the OP and how it's being used, their are situations where they are really necessary but for threads which requires open discussion and wants people's opinion I see it unfair to make it self moderated.
