You don't start earning money (you should say profit) when you start investing in bitcoin. You need to be holding for long term to make any good profit. Gambling and investing is a totally different thing. Invest won't help a gambling addict. In fact it will harm them more. Imagine a gambling addict invested in bitcoin and wants to hold long term. He invests, the price drops and then his urge of gambling kicks in. He would be selling his coins in loss to feed his gambling addiction.

They should be talking to a professional and get their help before making any kind of investment. You must have a sane and healthy mind before you start any kind of investment or make any financial decisions.

what a gambling addict needs to be concerned with is whether he or she can remain silent in the long run, I think that's hard to do. we know to invest holding in the long term, whereas a gambler usually wants results in a short and fast time. but if you can get rid of the addiction it might be best to switch it from gambling to investing. but for them maybe learning to trade would be more suitable, as long as they want to learn to gain experience so they don't trade like gambling
