The problem in the case of limiting the gambling addict's access to gambling is quite difficult. Such a player himself constantly comes up with an obsessive thought that he needs to play and win back a loss or win and rejoice.
Not all people who are addicted to gambling are able to overcome themselves and at least temporarily, for example, for a week or two, simply do not turn on the computer at all. But if such a person turns on the computer, this already means that he will go to a site with a gambling game. And of course keep playing. So the difficulty of the situation lies in overcoming this first step. In my example, this is turning on the computer.
If addictions were already difficult to overcome before the internet became and integral part of our lives now this is even harder thanks to the internet, and this is not only a problem with gambling as now online casinos are everywhere and they follow you no matter where you go if you have a smartphone.
But this is even the case with drugs which can be easily accessed on the black markets or even on social media, and unless a person is completely convinced about trying to leave their life as an addicted person behind, then they will always find a way to go back to their former habits.
A drug addict will always find new excuses to consume drugs. Just like that any addict, it doesn’t matter what he is addicted to, we’ll find a way to get back in his addiction. I generally have seen some people stop their addiction because they were somehow facing some problems because of their addiction. The people who are smart stay away from those things. People who are careful, stops the addiction as soon as it starts harming them. However, those who lack sagacity or struggle to exert control over their own cognitive faculties find themselves perpetually ensnared by their compulsions. It is true for both drugs and gambling. And those people who understand very well that they are harming themselves by doing so, I have zero sympathy for them. If you cannot control what you are doing, it is your fault, learn to take accountability.
It is not easy to stop something after being am addict because of the long time effect and the urge to do the thing more and more without weighing the effect it could have later. Just like a drug addict you've just mentioned, same can be attributed to a gambler that is an addict and does not have the right tools to help home to quench his thirt for gambling.
Gambling is good but when it is excessive, it is bad and nit good for an healthy gambler that want the best from gambling.
One of the consequences of gambling too much can be very brutal if the person does not look for a remedy to stop the urge of gambling always.
