It's not clear if we have free will, but at least we have the illusion that we have it, so might as well live a life that takes advantage of that.
This might get a bit too crazy, but at a quantum level, reality doesn't really "exist" until you observe it. So, basically let's say an electron can be in many positions with different probabilities. The moment you observe it, it is exactly at one location. You can read about the double-slit experiment to have an idea of what I'm talking about:

In a way, your attention defines your life, I think it's similar to the process of observing a particle, and therefore making it "real" from potential realities that it was before.
Your post is very interesting to discuss and theories about reality and perception have been discussed in many open forums.

there is research on how our thoughts and attention can shape our behavior patterns. Concepts such as a "self-fulfilling prophecy" indicate that our beliefs and expectations about what will happen can lead to behaviors that make those expectations come true.
This time what we are discussing is heavy gamblers, maybe it doesn't sound foreign that gambling addicts often act out with their bad behavior even though on several occasions our expectations can come true but do all the gambling activities that are carried out come true to be won?
Gambling addicts are often stuck with their own perceptions, they hope and believe they will continue to win in every gambling they do, but the fact is that it never happens for various reasons such as unstable emotions and others.
