Rayo's defeat by Atletico Madrid yesterday was Rayo's first defeat at the start of this season. Because in the previous two matches Rayo actually showed quite good performance. So I was also quite surprised to see Rayo suffer a humiliating defeat with a score of 7-0. And I think it's the biggest first-time loss for Rayo by this much score. I also think that this season Atletico Madrid has a very strong ambition to win the title in Laliga this season.

But that result didn't quite reflect what happened on the pitch. That efficiency was essentially unreal because how many games does a team in a season have when they have 10 shots on target and convert 7 of those into goals? Even crazier, Atletico only had 43% ball possession, pretty bad passing accuracy and four of those goals were scored in the last 20 minutes. So I think this game is really one to forget for Rayo and it doesn't mean too much for the games to come, it just looks very bad of course.

Rayo in that match controlled more of the ball. It's just that they have difficulty building attacks into the Atletico Madrid defense area. This is different from Atletico Madrid, which can easily make attacks when the ball is in the control of the Atletico Madrid players. I think in this match Rayo just panicked a bit and created a lot of gaps in their own defense area. Because I think Rayo should have played better and not have to lose like that.
