We can only speculate, but it looks like he's doing fine. We've can see recent activity on his account and some blockchain transactions in wallets he's used before. So my guess is that he just wants to keep a low profile and distance himself from his forum account. I'd probably do the same if I were in his shoes, after the whole ChipMixer situation. Regarding his role in the CM campaign, I think you'd have similar questions if it were any other campaign manager. I can't say who the most popular manager was back then, but I can see that DarkStar was quite active and had a good reputation even before the CM campaign.

Besides, it's not uncommon for active members to eventually step back from the forum. Real life keeps us all busy. If we look at how he's been using the forum over the last few years compared to before, it's clear that he's been slowing down his activity. Based on ninjastic.space, he only posted around 250 times last year, which is way less than what he used to post in previous years. Plus, who's to say that DarkStar is his only account here? He could still be around incognito, and we wouldn't even know it. Wink
