I agree with you very strongly on your point that Xabi Alonso should keep a deaf ear to the media as their comparison will only bring complacency upon them if given much attention, he should rather focus more on improvement and keeping the team ahead in their game as that will be the only way to get better. The media will always play their part, but their judgement shouldn't be prioritized.

I'm very optimistic Alonso will be a better coach as compared to others the club has had over the years in the history on the club. He has started on a good note already all he has to do is to continually improve and make adjustments where necessary and if need be make changes. The players aswell must be commended as they also have a huge role to play for the success of the team and off course they haven't done otherwise.

I think it was either Ancelotti or Mourinho that said that Xabi will be a great manager one day before all of this and turns out they were right. He knows his shortcomings in the team and he knows his strength as well and he emphasizes the parts where they are strong and try to reel the other team there as well.

His style is a quick football, which requires a lot of training and condition to be able to match it, and there aren't that many teams who would not be tired and fatigued by the end, which allows them to win easily thanks to their quick style. He knows what could make them do great, and he knows what the other team is great as well, so he is ready to do any changes that is needed to win the game during the game itself.
