I doubt DHL is that expensive for a small box with insurance.
A package from Germany to Japan, with insurance and airmail is around 40-50euro. So a package to France for example is around 15euro, insured up to 500euro.
DHL is very expensive. Sometimes it may be cheap to send item from Germany to another country (not within EU) but it will be very expensive to send item from other country to Germany.I doubt DHL is that expensive for a small box with insurance.
