I don't know what does "head of the family" mean, but you are right about this: if we have people that rely on us, we shouldn't let them down. We should drink responsibly because as overdrinking is not only bad for the health, but for our budget too. Same with gambling. Excessive gambling is bad for our mental health and it's usually bad for our budget.

The head of the family is man who has wife or also has child and is fully responsible for all the needs of life shelter and education for the child and that is why he is called the head of the family because of that responsibility able to minimize all activities that are detrimental or cause the family to fall apart if they take wrong actions such as in gambling.
Of course everyone who is responsible for their family is not advised to do excessive things especially if they use their finances for gambling because the needs of life and family happiness are the priorities of husband or father.
Discussions like this have actually been presented here lot but unfortunately they cannot cover everyone out there so there are still many cases of family destruction due to mistakes in managing time and finances for gambling.

There is a great lack of educated conscience here it is easy to avoid everything if you keep yourself under control. If being the head of the family becomes an addiction many people get involved in crime to earn money in gambling. The result is fatal The job may go away the family is destroyed suicide rates also increase many spend so much a year on this addiction that they lose everything and become destitute. Therefore family relationships emotional problems and financial problems are the most common effects on family members of people with gambling problems.

Emotional problem will arise as the main provider will have a big problem with his finances, gambling addiction affects the lives of everyone that surrounds that person, especially if he's already have an obligation to provide the needs of his family, I guess all are depends from how the person carry the load, addiction might not be possible if the person is busy taking care of his life and the obligation that he needed to take care.
