Not so good for Manchester United not forgetting the qualities he poseess,confident and good with the ball and like you mentioned a good background defender.
He is a better defender to Maguire and should get more minutes if he doesn't leave. Man United are chasing new defenders he may as well be among the list of players to be sold out.
Inter Milan brought a good fee for him to be bought but Man United coach declined the offer. Two years and he can still be sold he hasn't really influenced Man United defense.

Of course, in every training session, Lindelof also fights for the starting place, but Varane and Martinez are still not replaceable at the moment.
