The first innings is near to end almost finished and New Zealand plays just ordinary, this is an important match for Afghanistan, and the team of Afghanistan must win this match to qualify in the top 4. This is the first match of Afghanistan which not been held in Delhi because all previous matches of Afghanistan of this World Cup were held in Delhi and this match was hosted by Chennai. If Afghanistan wins today’s match with a good run rate then maybe Afghanistan will go into the top four, and they take the place of Pakistan.
The weakest team of this World Cup did come back, the Netherlands, Australia, and Afghanistan were at the lowest in the points table in the World Cup but now they are all ranked up. As far as the Sri Lanka team has no chance to win this World Cup, but World Cup matches are left so let’s see.
After what I saw today I can say one thing to you that is Afghanistan won't win today. They had plenty of opportunities today by the Afghanistan bowlers but their fielders were sloppy and out of touch. New Zealand was once 29/3 but then came in the partnership of 144 runs by Latham and Philips which helped them to give a target of 289 runs to Afghanistan.
New Zealand was always one of the favorite teams before coming to the World Cup. They and India are the only teams as of now who have not lost any game in this tournament. My understanding is that Afghanistan might be able to face the bowling attack of the New Zealand team. They (New Zealand) have only one spinner in their team but the conditions in Chennai are much more suitable for batting in the second innings.
