I believe in both cases, the bot still notifies you because It accesses no personal forum data or settings, so it doesn't know if you ignored the user via the forum or not. All it does is scrap forum posts.

This is what I also think when a forum member ignore a certain forum member and then make the bot follow the user and vice versa. The reason why I think the same is because Bitcointalk forum has isn't connected to the BOT and the BOT is only getting the data from the forum unless the user is ignored in the BOT then there will be no notification received when the user is mentioned.
