I don't think it's much different from the previous season and now Leverkusen is the only club that has the ability to compete with Bayern Munich. If in the previous season there was Dortmund, now there could be three clubs competing for the Bundesliga title and perhaps their consistency needs to be seen until the middle of the season. Leverkusen have proven their worth in facing Bayern Munich and despite playing at Bayern Munich's home ground they were able to hold Tuchel's men to a draw.

Leverkusen also managed to beat several other strong teams, so there is a much better chance for Leverkusen to compete with Bayern Munich compared to Stuttgart, RB Leipzig or Dortmund. Alonso just needs to maintain consistent play and avoid injury to several important players in the squad. If he can maintain this, I'm sure their chances of winning the Bundesliga are quite open.

Bayer leverkusen has been showing great performance. And that is because the coach has ultimate belief on his tactics. I don't think in recent times, we actually saw a single team staying at the top of the table, consistently in this competition other than Bayern Munich. Even any team has shown some hope, they have dropped points after 5/6 matches. Even if we look at the table now, we will see that no other team has actually been consistent. At least not consistent enough to give good competition to Bayern Munich. I would be really happy to see Bayern Leverkusen win the Bundesliga title.
