Honestly, majority of African players are not happy to represent their country in international duties using one or two excuses forgetting that their home land comes first before any other thing. Some of these players can be annoying with the way they claimed to be injured in any slight contact with opponents. I don't see anything wrong when they communicate with management to have some rest but no, they'll prefer to fake injury.
Even though it is more convenient to blame the players for not wanting to play for their countries, we should also remember that most African countries are not also trying in terms of management. There is no one that will hate his country if there is a general sense of patriotism among the citizens. If your country place importance on her citizens, this sense of patriotism will flow naturally and not forced. Failure in leadership in these countries is what is affecting every other sector including the sports. How do you expect someone who went through hell to leave their country in search of greener pastures, to be so patriotic about his country. There are players that followed diserts to travel abroad where their talents will be noticed and appreciated and if they hadn't taken that route, their would have died with their talents in their country and no one will notice them.

It is not entirely right to blame the players for everything. If you set a poll among the youths of most African countries, you will be shocked at the percentage of those that will choose never to come back to their country should they leave for a better place. All the same, home is still home.
