Yeah, and this celebrity culture is really bad in India. It was already bad but after IPL it went onto a different level. I can only hope that once India gets richer, this culture will fade away and people stop worshipping film actors and cricketers.
I don't think this culture will fade away so easily in South Asia as India has taken cricket to next level both in terms of popularity and revenue generation. That's why there is now direct connection between India cricket and Bolly wood film industry. Today every Indian player is either married to bolly wood star or dating some high profile lady. This will become a culture in coming years that an Indian cricketer will only have a relation with some bolly wood star.
Cricket is very popular in Asian countries. As they are far behind in football, their main game is cricket. This is why cricketers are very respected in these countries. And in a country like India, cricketers are no less popular than any Bollywood star. Even I think cricketers like Kohli and Rohit are more popular than any Bollywood star. That's why most of them play Bollywood actresses. However, things don't look bad to me. This increases the popularity of both of them.

A cricketer is much more popular than a Bollywood actress. In a normal calculation if we see that there are many famous famous Bollywood actors in one hundred crore population but if we talk about cricket Virat Kohli is only one. He has no equal. Moreover, the players of the national team are selected from the whole of India with only 11 players representing it. India gets huge amount of revenue from both Bollywood and Cricket. There is nothing to belittle anyone here. But since cricket is one of the most popular sports in the all over Asia, it is natural that the leading Indian national team cricketers will be respected.
