One of the solutions which is recommended by most gamblers on this forum for gambling addiction is "Therapy" . Professional help in the form of therapy. It is good and very effective but how many persons can actually afford it? There is a fee for each session that lasts for a duration of 60minutes. And there are more than one session. Therapy for gambling addiction is expensive. How can those who are unemployed afford it? How about the college student? Or the person receiving minimum wage. What are the other low cost but very effective solutions to gambling addiction. And typically how long will it take before the addict starts to feel more in control and less withdrawal symptoms?
Will totally appreciate your responses. Thanks.
The lowest cost is having family and friends who not only support you with words and gestures but also actively make sure to enforce a no-gambling environment in which you can relax and forget about gambling. A good distraction until your brain has recovered to normal levels is really all it takes for you to overcome any gambling addiction. The recovery time can be long, depending on the severity of the addiction. But going cold turkey is always the best thing to do.
But without friends and family, you might find yourself not being able to distract your brain from its addiction until it heals.
True, that's the real lowest cost that is effective for overcoming gambling addiction, as you said by having family and some friends who really care about the problems we are facing such as gambling addiction, quite lucky for those who have the closest people like that by providing solutions not only through mere suggestions but also with actions that certainly have the potential for a change or to encourage change to be closer to reality. I think one of the things that family or friends can do is to invite them (people suffering from addiction) to do many other activities that are positive and of course outside the world of gambling.
One of the benefits is clear that by inviting to engage in many other activities it is likely to divert their attention from gambling, and the more often they do the alternative, it is clear that they will forget more and more about gambling and their interest in gambling will decrease, yes indeed for the problem of how long the process must be undergone it really depends on the severity of the addiction and also depends on the person who is addicted too, if they are difficult to manage then the process will be quite complicated too. Honestly, I am one of the people who recovered from addiction by utilizing this alternative that we are discussing, really effective.
