Real Madrid management may think Ancelotti is still the best option for Real Madrid coach, so they try all out to ensure he will stay a bit longer. The current progress of Real Madrid future players are also under Ancelotti's plan, so he still has a role to keep it in the right way. Also, Real Madrid still can perform impressively and quite stable with Ancelotti. Although many star players moved, Ancelotti could keep the balance of Real Madrid squad very well.

This contract extension was a surprise to me as I remember some of the interviews that Ancelotti gave and I was always of the impression that he perhaps would like to continue for another season, but this is a serious long term extension for him. If you see someone talking about their career and how they are about to cross the finish line, you would not expect them to sign a contract that runs until summer 2026. But this was also a clear statement against the Brazilian national team. That was something I thought Ancelotti could be interested in. But he isn't blind. He knows that Brazil isn't very good at the moment and he has the chance to coach a strong Real Madrid that maybe signs Mbappe very soon.
