Overall, Manchester City's performance is not much different this season compared to last season and what is happening in the current standings is normal because competition is quite fierce in the Premier League and this has been happening for a long time.

For Liverpool, it is quite an improvement compared to last season, but that is not surprising because their rightful place is in the competition for the title.
