An exchange with ads is strange and a big red flag to me, means no privacy for their users and probably not very secure IMO.

We also own FreeBitcoins.com and get a lot of low-quality traffic, but we don't treat them differently than any other users. We are just trying to keep the lights on and Google ads seem to be tasteful these days.

Your privacy is your responsibility. You need to take the proper opsec for your lifestyle.

The ads are also only on the homepage. The inside of the exchange has no ads.

While some people buy/sell tBTC these days, tBTC supposed to be free/worthless used for testing or development purpose. And while i don't expect average faucet would try to hack or scam you, they usually show ads which violate your privacy and occasionally show shady/scam ads.

That's what we are trying to avoid doing. Keep our faucet free globally, plus keep Testnet coins in circulation for people who want all sizes.

Testnet coins are worthless. Anyone who sells you a testnet bitcoin is spreading the notion that they have value, and thus cannot be trusted.

I disagree with this. Bitcoin Testnet reward is 0.02 coins every 20 minutes. If someone wants 1000 coins they are going to be using a fair bit of electricity and time.

It might be a better fit for them to just get their 1000 coins and keep testing their systems or whatever they are doing with them.

I own this exchange and I decided to offer this market. People are lining up on both sides. I don't think that makes me or the users dishonest. Everyone is happy that uses it.

The only people upset are the ones who want to wave a magic wand and say "This has no value!!!!" Which is exactly what people have done with Bitcoin!!! FFS look at the shit going around token and coin-wise.... having a semi-healthy tiny nothingness Bitcoin Testnet isn't a bad idea. Development is exploding.
