Well that's a given thing and also, for sure we are all aware of this before engaging to gambling. But still we chose to continue our engagement with this activity with hopes of getting what's difficult to achieve, profit from gambling. Actually, the bigger the drive, the bigger the tendency that a gambler would be at risk of addiction. There are some people who desires to become rich due to luck. Financial loss on the other hand is of course with high tendency. Most of the time winning rate is 50-50 or even higher tendency of losing. Some gamblers do enjoy the experience of betting because of thrill but in most people's case, they desire of profit which is a normal expectation. To elaborate, if you are only after entertainment, there are other activities you could do but since involvement of money makes gambling different, it is not surprising that it is most of the time tbe biggest drive for gamblers.

The idea I guess that there are people who are winning the jackpot, pushes many gamblers to still continue and disregard the risk and loss.
