Leverkusen is at the top of the table with the highest average points per game in Europe's top five leagues. It is not surprising considering that they are the only undefeated team in the most elite league in Europe and they have also managed to compete with big clubs from other top European leagues. An achievement that we would rarely see if not this season and Leverkusen is indeed worth waiting for its performance again next season with the same coach and squad to prove its consistency.
Xabi Alonso's statement on his future was really valuable for Leverkusen. The board must be delighted with his decision.
They have a coach who hasn't lost a single match in the whole season until now. Who wouldn't want to move on with a coach like this right? I'm pretty sure the board were worried about his probable departure for a bigger team this summer first. Xabi Alonso wants to be an idealist seemingly and I'm looking forward to Leverkusen's performance next season not only here but also in the Champions League.
