Looks like Israel did not want to look weak, so it retaliated, but also did not want to damage anything significant, so it retaliated with a few drones? I don't get it, since the city they flew towards had a nuclear reactor, so maybe that was a target, but surely they could've used missiles... IMO the strike that wasn't supposed to escalate the situation but warn Iran that Israel will react to attacks made Israel look weak, like they can't afford a real strike. I have similar feelings about this situation that I have while watching NATO scramble fighters to intercept Russian bombers in its air space and then it it approaches them and tells them to turn back and a month later Russia does the same thing.
Israel and its allies have weighed the consequences of attacking Iran and decided to minimize the destruction the attack will cause. The US has always told Israel that it will not be part of any retaliatory attack which means Israel will be attacking Iran at its own risk. Attacking Iran with more dangerous or bigger weapons will lead to a large-scale war that the US might not be able to handle. The US knows that countries such as China, Russia, North Korea, and others are waiting for opportunities to support Iran in a war against the West. In order not to look weak because they had announced that they would respond to the attack, they just had to use small exploding drones that might have been launched from inside Iran to attack. There are also speculations that Israel will carry out a large-scale attack after the Passover, but I doubt if they can bear the devastating effects.
