I don’t think their performance was better in the end because they lost their spot of qualifying for European competition towards the end of the season and struggled to win matches. Just because they managed to win the FA Cup final doesn’t mean they had a good performance towards the end of the season, their style of play of play is was not really convincing and consistent at all but with the FA Cup trophy it seems they have achieved something for the season and it’s not bad.

Onana has his flaws too but the defense is their major weakness and that is the reason why they conceded too many goals. They need to work on their defense if they really want to improve their game for next season and when Onana is facing less shots per match it will reduce their conceding rate.

Manchester United could not gain the upper hand over the opponent in many matches. He could not play football like we are used to, and he played football on the field as if it were an ordinary team. Those who love Manchester United will not accept such football. Winning the cup game doesn't change the fact that they were bad throughout the season.

Manchester United has many shortcomings both in terms of play and defense. The coach's insistence on some players caused some matches to be lost. There is no trace of the old Manchester United anymore. If they continue to play like an ordinary team in the league, they will fall further behind in the league.
