The reason they want you to write to using the original email address is to ascertain that indeed you are the person who created the account.

I could have just used forgotten password.
Doesn't signing message count as something
I have even signed two messages with two of my addresses.
Not to mention my Altcointalk account whose link is in my profile (not related though) is still active and accessible by me.
If I was a scammer wouldn't the original had lay complain since
