I personally believe that the best way to go would be just focusing on your own project while ignoring everyone else. If you do not have funds to start one, then first figure out how to get that, if you have zero to start, then you can't even make something that can be put on launchpad, you can't even get audit, so you need money, a capital, to start, at least a few thousand dollars if nothing else, to get all the audits and everything ready, and to be listed, then you need some more for marketing and building a great project as well.
Well there’s plenty of ways to try and get the funds you need when you are at absolute zero.
You are going to need partnerships and investors. You need to sell your idea to them (not literally) enough to make them see the value of it and see the potential it has. Of course they might want to interfere with a few aspects of your project but that is something you have to decide whether is worth it or not.
