Apart from Manchester city who's been proven otherwise in the competition, the rest of the teams play like an underdog when they meet teams outside premier league. Leverkusen are on a great run with Xabi Alonso. They can't be underestimated in the Champions League at all. However there is still a huge experience and success gap between Leverkusen and Bayern Munich. 
Bayern Munich have a great history with 6 titles here. Leverkusen have only 1 runner-up season and that's all. They have a great momentum recently but experience plays a really important role in the Champions League. I don't think Leverkusen will do better than them honestly but it is just my opinion.

This can not be denied! Experience plays a greater role as far as champions league is concern, it's what Madrid has been banking upon all this while. I know the quality of team squad and their performance also matters but UCL is not just like domestic league where you meet with your opponents on weekly basis. Participating in the league for several years and winning on several occasions has given Madrid require experience in the champions league which put them ahead of other teams. Leverkusen is presently on a good run but they actually don't have experience compared to their counterpart Munich when it comes to UCL competition.
