So far - those are the two function of bitcoin. As a means of payment – bitcoin has many advantage over traditional fiat currencies currently circulating. Bitcoin is safer for transaction and you can save a lot of time sending money between countries by setting your own fees. Of course - you don't have a daily limit for trading bitcoin as long as you don't store it on a centralized exchange. This is better than centralized banks - in fact you won't get a single privacy-intrusive question when you use bitcoin as a means of payment or currency.

As an investment asset - you certainly know how it has performed so far. Bitcoin has given early investors thousands of percent return to date - even new investors will get worth it return when they invest. Price volatility allow the value of your portfolio to rise and fall - but if you are patient, get the return.
