You do not have to "trust" them, but you do have to follow their instructions, because governments instructions are basically laws, and if you do not follow the law, the ending isn't so great. You are right that, even if we dislike the government and hate what they are doing, we just have to accept the fact and just move on with it and there isn't really anything that will take that much time, we shouldn't really see that as an issue, we should just keep remembering that government has the power over us, and no matter what we do, only thing we can do is vote them out, that's it.
