I do believe that's the smartest decision for Madrid. Trying to look for a backup striker that you can rely on is quite difficult nowadays, not to mention the options are limited. Based on what I've read the market for strikers is quite limited, so it would be a gamble to find one who is younger or around Mbappe's age. If you already have someone who proves that he can score goals in decisive moments why would you need to gamble again?
