Socialization? You must be referring to a physical casino, and what kind of interaction do you think there is in a casino when most people there are stressed when they are losing a lot of money? I agree with you, a lot of people don't want to socialize while gambling...especially if they are losing. And income generation is for those employed in the gambling industry. For us gamblers, it's all about fun and entertainment, and if we are lucky and win a nice sum of money, that's a big plus, but we all know that doesn't always happen. For many of us gambling is full of ups and downs, and it's almost an "impossible mission" to make profit in the long run, or to count that we will make any profit.
