I think not been patient has it own use too in gambling when you are having doubts.

Timing will be needed but patience can be apply in anytime. What you did is waiting for the right time to place your bet and we can do that when we gets some prediction from other people. Waiting for the time to bet is also part of patience because you need to wait for the right time so you can place your bet. Sometime our feeling tells us to wait for a while but we ignore that and place our bet in rush without thinks what can happens to us.

But we should also understand that it patience or timing does not guarantee success in gambling. A gambler can still wait for the time he feels is perfect and yet still lose the bet.
