In the past years, Manchester City did not performed well in their pre-season matches, but they always ended up winning the Premier League title. Chelsea is still a threat in the Premier League top-four race since we don't know how they will perform in the new Premier League season.

We can’t compare Chelsea's condition with Manchester City, Pep already has a squad, so he is using the players on the bench for the pre-season matches.
