I think what he said there is already clear. Maybe you only need to re-read it again and again in order to for you to get his point. He didn't mention the word employee there and that is weird. The previous owner is also a boss, so I don't think he will agree to only become an employee this time and he already have the money anyways, so he can always use it to create another profitable business that he liked again.

It's also weird if the previous owner will now be a co-owner when he was already paid, however if they want something like that, I think this is also possible to be worked out. Facebook on the other hand, is a famous social media platform and any company can use it to their advantage, so they really do care about it actually. You still got a point that there must be a kind of announcement there for any changes that have been made.
